THE STORY

“Meditation Skull” (2016) is a found-object totem—part artifact, part sanctuary—where death becomes a vessel for color, symbol, and quiet presence. Made from a genuine cow skull recovered from the Appalachian mountains, the piece is layered with collage and various found objects, transforming bone into a saturated landscape of pattern, talismanic details, and ritual adornment.

An embedded seated figure appears like a guardian within the structure, suggesting stillness inside the raw fact of mortality. Sealed in 2-part epoxy, every charm, bead, and painted mark is locked into glossy depth—turning the skull into a luminous shrine to contemplation, endurance, and the strange beauty of what remains.
