“Serpent Tongue” (2024-2025) is a grin that dares you closer—a jewel-encrusted mask of appetite and ceremony where charm and threat share the same mouth. A staring face, reminiscent of a carnival idol or guardian, floats out of a dense, midnight field, its eyes ringed with beadwork and electric contours that ripple like heat off asphalt.
The surface is crowded with coded symbols and relic fragments: glass and ceramic beads stitched into patterns, multiple-gauge wire threading through like nerves, and ridges of felt and sculpted foam. At the center, an impossible smile shines with clean teeth while the tongue pushes outward in visceral relief, turning the piece from an image into a physical encounter. Sealed in glossy epoxy, the work amplifies the tension between devotion and danger—the sweet sting of something beautiful that might bite back.
